We are looking for ten teachers who have previously received one of our grants (at any time since the scheme was launched) to act as these 'grant buddies'.

Funding will be provided to cover your time – up to six days per year per buddy.

Criteria

Buddies will be expected to support up to three teachers who have been awarded a grant in the 2021-2022 grant process, including both the Autumn and Spring Term rounds.

Teachers who take on this role should:

  • have experience of using a BSA grant; either an Underrepresented Audiences grant, or a British Science Week Kick Start grant

  • have experience of running CREST Awards

  • be willing to share ideas on how to increase the engagement of students from underrepresented audiences with CREST

  • be available to spend up to six days a year on this project, including attending training and supporting your buddy teachers

  • be able to support teachers with their grants, including project planning, budgeting and contingency planning

  • take part in an end of pilot evaluation.

Please note, buddies are still welcome to apply for grants themselves, but applications should be unrelated to your involvement in the buddy process.
