Enter a competition
You can use your project to enter a competition, as well as achieving a CREST Award, to make the most of your hard work. You’ll get the chance to meet some fantastic scientists and engineers, and maybe even win some prizes!
The Youth Grand Challenges is a new STEM competition that aims to inspire young people, aged 11-to-19, to see how science and technology can be deployed to tackle global health issues. The theme for 2016/17 is infectious diseases.
To participate in the Youth Grand Challenges competition, students must undertake a CREST project on a topic of their choice that relates to the overarching theme of infectious diseases – such as mosquitos, sanitation, or vaccines, and that is in an eligible topic area aligned with a current theme of research supported by the Global Grand Challenges.
Students can either use one of our project resources, or come up with their own idea for a project.
The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition aims to recognise and reward young people’s achievements in all areas of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and provide them with the opportunity to build their skills and confidence in project-based work.
The Big Bang Competition will create opportunities for more young people than ever to showcase their STEM projects and recognise and reward their achievements. It’s open to all UK residents in full-time education or training (year group 7-13 and Scottish/NI equivalent).
