CREST Awards are not competitive – any student who meets the criteria for an Award level will achieve an Award.
The quantity and standard of work expected increases at each Award level.
CREST Star, Discovery and Bronze Awards are internally assessed by a teacher or project leader. At Silver and Gold level, students submit their work to be externally assessed by a CREST representative.
The assessment criteria are designed to evaluate and recognise a range of skills which are important for scientific project work:
- Reflective practice
These skills are highly transferrable, and valuable for a student’s education and future employment.
